Genesis 26:1

There was a famine in the land, distinct from the earlier one that had occurred in the days of Abraham, and Isaac went down to Abimelech, king of the Philistines in Gerar.

There was famine in the land; so Abram went down to Egypt to sojourn there, since the famine in the land was severe.

After the death of Abraham, God blessed his son Isaac, who lived near Beer-lahai-roi. Descendants of Ishmael.

Jacob then gave him some bread and the lentil stew; and Esau ate, drank, got up, and went his way. So Esau treated his right as firstborn with disdain.

And so the sons of Israel were among those who came to buy grain, since there was famine in the land of Canaan.

Now the famine in the land grew severe.

In David’s time there was a famine for three years, year after year. David sought the presence of the Lord, who said: There is bloodguilt on Saul and his family because he put the Gibeonites to death.

The Lord spoke to Moses: Go! You and the people whom you have brought up from the land of Egypt are to go up from here to the land about which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: I will give it to your descendants.

Once back in the time of the judges there was a famine in the land; so a man from Bethlehem of Judah left home with his wife and two sons to reside on the plateau of Moab.
