Now Rebekah had a brother named Laban. Laban rushed outside to the man at the spring.

When he saw the nose-ring and the bracelets on his sister’s arms and when he heard Rebekah repeating what the man had said to her, he went to him while he was standing by the camels at the spring.

Her brother and mother replied, “Let the young woman stay with us a short while, say ten days; after that she may go.”

They blessed Rebekah and said: “Sister, may you grow into thousands of myriads; And may your descendants gain possession of the gates of their enemies!”

Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean of Paddan-aram and the sister of Laban the Aramean.

So now, my son, obey me: flee at once to my brother Laban in Haran,

Go now to Paddan-aram, to the home of your mother’s father Bethuel, and there choose a wife for yourself from among the daughters of Laban, your mother’s brother.

When Laban heard the news about Jacob, his sister’s son, he ran to meet him. After embracing and kissing him, he brought him to his house. Jacob then repeated to Laban all these things,

Then he asked them, “Do you know Laban, son of Nahor?” “We do,” they answered.
