Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah and said, “Quick, three measures of bran flour! Knead it and make bread.”

Then he got some curds and milk, as well as the calf that had been prepared, and set these before them, waiting on them under the tree while they ate.

He urged them so strongly, however, that they turned aside to his place and entered his house. He prepared a banquet for them, baking unleavened bread, and they dined.

Those who lie on beds of ivory, and lounge upon their couches; Eating lambs taken from the flock, and calves from the stall;

Cursed is the cheat who has in his flock an intact male, and vows it, but sacrifices to the Lord a defective one instead; For a great king am I, says the Lord of hosts, and my name is feared among the nations.

A second time he sent other servants, saying, ‘Tell those invited: “Behold, I have prepared my banquet, my calves and fattened cattle are killed, and everything is ready; come to the feast.”’

Take the fattened calf and slaughter it. Then let us celebrate with a feast,

The servant said to him, ‘Your brother has returned and your father has slaughtered the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.’

But when your son returns who swallowed up your property with prostitutes, for him you slaughter the fattened calf.’

The woman had a stall-fed calf in the house, which she now quickly slaughtered. Then taking flour, she kneaded it and baked unleavened bread.
