But the Lord struck Pharaoh and his household with severe plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.
Abraham then interceded with God, and God restored health to Abimelech, to his wife, and his maidservants, so that they bore children;
for the Lord had closed every womb in Abimelech’s household on account of Abraham’s wife Sarah.
But God came to Abimelech in a dream one night and said to him: You are about to die because of the woman you have taken, for she has a husband.
He let no one oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings:
David said to Ornan: “Sell me the site of this threshing floor, that I may build on it an altar to the Lord. Sell it to me at its full price, that the plague may be withdrawn from the people.”
Who neither favors the person of princes, nor respects the rich more than the poor? For they are all the work of his hands;
Let marriage be honored among all and the marriage bed be kept undefiled, for God will judge the immoral and adulterers.
