The Lord said to Abram: Go forth from your land, your relatives, and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you.

He then said to him: I am the Lord who brought you from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land as a possession.

You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth and summoned from its far-off places, To whom I have said, You are my servant; I chose you, I have not rejected you—

Look to Abraham, your father, and to Sarah, who gave you birth; Though he was but one when I called him, I blessed him and made him many.

Son of man, these who live among the ruins in the land of Israel are saying: “Abraham was only one person, yet he was given possession of the land. Since we are many, the land must be given to us as our possession.”

But he answered, “No, I will not come. I am going instead to the land of my birth.”

Therefore, come forth from them and be separate,” says the Lord, “and touch nothing unclean; then I will receive you

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance; he went out, not knowing where he was to go.

Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “Depart from her, my people, so as not to take part in her sins and receive a share in her plagues,
