From these branched out the maritime nations. These are the descendants of Japheth by their lands, each with its own language, according to their clans, by their nations.

The name of the second river is the Gihon; it is the one that winds all through the land of Cush.

When Noah was five hundred years old, he begot Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth. Ham was the father of Canaan.

Forward, horses! charge, chariots! March forth, warriors, Cush and Put, bearing shields, Archers of Lud, stretching bows!”

Persia and Lud and Put were warriors in your army; Shield and helmet they hung on you to enhance your splendor.

Persia, Cush, and Put with them, all with shields and helmets;
