Exodus 4:20

So Moses took his wife and his sons, mounted them on the donkey, and started back to the land of Egypt. Moses took the staff of God with him.

And you, lift up your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea, and split it in two, that the Israelites may pass through the sea on dry land.

So Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some men for us, and tomorrow go out and engage Amalek in battle. I will be standing on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand.”

and he sent word to Moses, “I, your father-in-law Jethro, am coming to you, along with your wife and her two sons.”

Then, raising his hand, Moses struck the rock twice with his staff, and water came out in abundance, and the community and their livestock drank.

Moses fled when he heard this and settled as an alien in the land of Midian, where he became the father of two sons.
