On the next day we resumed the trip and came to Caesarea, where we went to the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the Seven, and stayed with him.

And all day long, both at the temple and in their homes, they did not stop teaching and proclaiming the Messiah, Jesus.

The proposal was acceptable to the whole community, so they chose Stephen, a man filled with faith and the holy Spirit, also Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicholas of Antioch, a convert to Judaism.

Now Saul was consenting to his execution. Persecution of the Church. On that day, there broke out a severe persecution of the church in Jerusalem, and all were scattered throughout the countryside of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.

Then the angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, “Get up and head south on the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza, the desert route.”

Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”

Philip came to Azotus, and went about proclaiming the good news to all the towns until he reached Caesarea.

With one accord, the crowds paid attention to what was said by Philip when they heard it and saw the signs he was doing.

and he began at once to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

but we proclaim Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,

For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

for no one can lay a foundation other than the one that is there, namely, Jesus Christ.
