When they came to the disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and scribes arguing with them.

We found this man to be a pest; he creates dissension among Jews all over the world and is a ringleader of the sect of the Nazoreans.

In defending himself Paul said, “I have committed no crime either against the Jewish law or against the temple or against Caesar.”

Three days later he called together the leaders of the Jews. When they had gathered he said to them, “My brothers, although I had done nothing against our people or our ancestral customs, I was handed over to the Romans as a prisoner from Jerusalem.
