Whoever cares for the poor lends to the Lord, who will pay back the sum in full.

But the noble plan noble deeds, and in noble deeds they persist.

Strengthen hands that are feeble, make firm knees that are weak,

Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, drive out demons. Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.

and I did not at all shrink from telling you what was for your benefit, or from teaching you in public or in your homes.

for I did not shrink from proclaiming to you the entire plan of God.

You know well that these very hands have served my needs and my companions.

When he had finished speaking he knelt down and prayed with them all.

We who are strong ought to put up with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves;

And when I was with you and in need, I did not burden anyone, for the brothers who came from Macedonia supplied my needs. So I refrained and will refrain from burdening you in any way.

In what way were you less privileged than the rest of the churches, except that on my part I did not burden you? Forgive me this wrong!

For you know the gracious act of our Lord Jesus Christ, that for your sake he became poor although he was rich, so that by his poverty you might become rich.

The thief must no longer steal, but rather labor, doing honest work with his [own] hands, so that he may have something to share with one in need.

and to aspire to live a tranquil life, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your [own] hands, as we instructed you,

We urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, cheer the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient with all.

Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have; God is pleased by sacrifices of that kind.

Be mindful of prisoners as if sharing their imprisonment, and of the ill-treated as of yourselves, for you also are in the body.

For they have set out for the sake of the Name and are accepting nothing from the pagans.
