If others share this rightful claim on you, do not we still more? Reason for Not Using His Rights. Yet we have not used this right. On the contrary, we endure everything so as not to place an obstacle to the gospel of Christ.

I have not used any of these rights, however, nor do I write this that it be done so in my case. I would rather die. Certainly no one is going to nullify my boast.

What then is my recompense? That, when I preach, I offer the gospel free of charge so as not to make full use of my right in the gospel. All Things to All.

Do we not have the right to eat and drink?

Did I make a mistake when I humbled myself so that you might be exalted, because I preached the gospel of God to you without charge?

And when I was with you and in need, I did not burden anyone, for the brothers who came from Macedonia supplied my needs. So I refrained and will refrain from burdening you in any way.

Make room for us; we have not wronged anyone, or ruined anyone, or taken advantage of anyone.

Nor, indeed, did we ever appear with flattering speech, as you know, or with a pretext for greed—God is witness—

Tend the flock of God in your midst, [overseeing] not by constraint but willingly, as God would have it, not for shameful profit but eagerly.

For they have set out for the sake of the Name and are accepting nothing from the pagans.
