Acts 17:4

Some of them were convinced and joined Paul and Silas; so, too, a great number of Greeks who were worshipers, and not a few of the prominent women.

Many of them became believers, as did not a few of the influential Greek women and men.

The people of the city were divided: some were with the Jews; others, with the apostles.

After the congregation had dispersed, many Jews and worshipers who were converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who spoke to them and urged them to remain faithful to the grace of God. Address to the Gentiles.

and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and to us through the will of God,

Some were convinced by what he had said, while others did not believe.

Then the apostles and presbyters, in agreement with the whole church, decided to choose representatives and to send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. The ones chosen were Judas, who was called Barsabbas, and Silas, leaders among the brothers.

The Jews, however, incited the women of prominence who were worshipers and the leading men of the city, stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their territory.

shouting, “Fellow Israelites, help us. This is the man who is teaching everyone everywhere against the people and the law and this place, and what is more, he has even brought Greeks into the temple and defiled this sacred place.”

This continued for two years with the result that all the inhabitants of the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord, Jews and Greeks alike.

Every sabbath, he entered into discussions in the synagogue, attempting to convince both Jews and Greeks.

But some did join him, and became believers. Among them were Dionysius, a member of the Court of the Areopagus, a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

So he debated in the synagogue with the Jews and with the worshipers, and daily in the public square with whoever happened to be there.

and Paul wanted him to come along with him. On account of the Jews of that region, Paul had him circumcised, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.

But Paul chose Silas and departed after being commended by the brothers to the grace of the Lord.

Judas and Silas, who were themselves prophets, exhorted and strengthened the brothers with many words.

So we are sending Judas and Silas who will also convey this same message by word of mouth:

In Iconium they entered the Jewish synagogue together and spoke in such a way that a great number of both Jews and Greeks came to believe,

After their release they went back to their own people and reported what the chief priests and elders had told them.

All who believed were together and had all things in common;

So the Jews said to one another, “Where is he going that we will not find him? Surely he is not going to the dispersion among the Greeks to teach the Greeks, is he?

D Where has your lover gone, most beautiful among women? Where has your lover withdrawn that we may seek him with you?

Walk with the wise and you become wise, but the companion of fools fares badly.

Forsake foolishness that you may live; advance in the way of understanding.”

Up, Zion! Escape, you who dwell in daughter Babylon!

The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas to Beroea during the night. Upon arrival they went to the synagogue of the Jews.

So the brothers at once sent Paul on his way to the seacoast, while Silas and Timothy remained behind.
