And when I was with you and in need, I did not burden anyone, for the brothers who came from Macedonia supplied my needs. So I refrained and will refrain from burdening you in any way.

I have never wanted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing.

If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him in your house or even greet him;

For such people do not serve our Lord Christ but their own appetites, and by fair and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the innocent.

“Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.

Whoever will not receive you or listen to your words—go outside that house or town and shake the dust from your feet.

Then Moses became very angry and said to the Lord, “Pay no attention to their offering. I have never taken a single donkey from them, nor have I wronged any one of them.” Korah.

So if you regard me as a partner, welcome him as you would me.

I am sending him, that is, my own heart, back to you.

You are witnesses, and so is God, how devoutly and justly and blamelessly we behaved toward you believers.

Aristarchus, my fellow prisoner, sends you greetings, as does Mark the cousin of Barnabas (concerning whom you have received instructions; if he comes to you, receive him),

Welcome him then in the Lord with all joy and hold such people in esteem,

I repeat, no one should consider me foolish; but if you do, accept me as a fool, so that I too may boast a little.

Rather, we have renounced shameful, hidden things; not acting deceitfully or falsifying the word of God, but by the open declaration of the truth we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God.

For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you, with the simplicity and sincerity of God, [and] not by human wisdom but by the grace of God.

Whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat what is set before you,
