When David my father wished to build a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel,
ten fatted oxen, twenty pasture-fed oxen, and a hundred sheep, not counting harts, gazelles, roebucks, and fatted fowl.
After David had taken up residence in his house, he said to Nathan the prophet, “See, I am living in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under tentcloth.”
David said to Solomon: “My son, it was my purpose to build a house myself for the name of the Lord, my God.
the Lord said to him: In wishing to build a house for my name, you did well.
