Indeed, I have singled him out that he may direct his children and his household in the future to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just, so that the Lord may put into effect for Abraham the promises he made about him.

After them, all those, of every tribe of Israel, who set their hearts to seek the Lord, the God of Israel, came to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the Lord, the God of their ancestors.

He told Judah to seek the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and to observe the law and the commandment.

He built fortified cities in Judah, for the land had peace and no war was waged against him during these years, because the Lord had given him rest.

In Judah, however, the hand of God brought it about that the people were of one heart to carry out the command of the king and the princes by the word of the Lord.

all who have set their heart to seek God, the Lord, the God of their ancestors, even though they are not clean as holiness requires.”

He restored the altar of the Lord, and sacrificed on it communion offerings and thank offerings, and commanded Judah to serve the Lord, the God of Israel.

Then I gave orders to purify the chambers, and I brought back the vessels of the house of God, the grain offerings, and the incense.

With all my heart I seek you; do not let me stray from your commandments.

For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel: Seek me, that you may live,

If it is displeasing to you to serve the Lord, choose today whom you will serve, the gods your ancestors served beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites in whose country you are dwelling. As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

I announce to him that I am condemning his house once and for all, because of this crime: though he knew his sons were blaspheming God, he did not reprove them.
