For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you, with the simplicity and sincerity of God, [and] not by human wisdom but by the grace of God.

But you, man of God, avoid all this. Instead, pursue righteousness, devotion, faith, love, patience, and gentleness.

O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you. Avoid profane babbling and the absurdities of so-called knowledge.

Remind people of these things and charge them before God to stop disputing about words. This serves no useful purpose since it harms those who listen.

So turn from youthful desires and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord with purity of heart.

Avoid foolish and ignorant debates, for you know that they breed quarrels.

and will stop listening to the truth and will be diverted to myths.

Paul, a slave of God and apostle of Jesus Christ for the sake of the faith of God’s chosen ones and the recognition of religious truth,

instead of paying attention to Jewish myths and regulations of people who have repudiated the truth.

Avoid foolish arguments, genealogies, rivalries, and quarrels about the law, for they are useless and futile.

Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teaching. It is good to have our hearts strengthened by grace and not by foods, which do not benefit those who live by them.

We did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we had been eyewitnesses of his majesty.
