The king said to Abiathar the priest: “Go to your estate in Anathoth. Though you deserve to die, I will not put you to death at this time, because you carried the ark of the Lord God before David my father and shared in all the hardships my father endured.”

“Lord God of Israel,” David prayed, “your servant has heard that Saul plans to come to Keilah, to destroy the city on my account.

Abiathar, son of Ahimelech, who had fled to David, went down with David to Keilah, taking the ephod with him. Flight from Keilah.

Saul then called all the army to war, in order to go down to Keilah and besiege David and his men.

and said to Abiathar, the priest, son of Ahimelech, “Bring me the ephod!” When Abiathar brought him the ephod,
