David then asked, “Will the citizens of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul?” The Lord answered: They will deliver you.

I will rejoice and be glad in your mercy, once you have seen my misery, [and] gotten to know the distress of my soul.

When Saul was told that David had entered Keilah, he thought: “God has put him in my hand, for he has boxed himself in by entering a city with gates and bars.”

Better to take refuge in the Lord than to put one’s trust in mortals.

When the men of Judah asked, “Why have you come up against us?” they answered, “To take Samson prisoner; to do to him as he has done to us.”

Will they hand me over? Will Saul come down as your servant has heard? Lord God of Israel, tell your servant.” The Lord answered: He will come down.

I knew it because the Lord informed me: at that time you showed me their doings.

In the morning let me hear of your mercy, for in you I trust. Show me the path I should walk, for I entrust my life to you.
