Jehu got up and went into the house. Then the prophet’s aide poured the oil on his head and said, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: I anoint you king over the people of the Lord, over Israel.

Riches and glory are from you, and you have dominion over all. In your hand are power and might; it is yours to give greatness and strength to all.

Hezekiah possessed very great wealth and glory. He made treasuries for his silver, gold, precious stones, spices, jewels, and other precious things of all kinds;

He built cities for himself, and he acquired sheep and oxen in great numbers, for God gave him very great riches.

He said, “Naked I came forth from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I go back there. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord!”

Look at everyone who is proud, and humble them. Tear down the wicked in their place,

He sets up the lowly on high, and those who mourn are raised to safety.

I eat ashes like bread, mingle my drink with tears.

For judgment comes not from east or from west, not from the wilderness or the mountains,

But from God who decides, who brings some low and raises others high.

Rich and poor have a common bond: the Lord is the maker of them all.

For the Lord of hosts will have his day against all that is proud and arrogant, against all that is high, and it will be brought low;

I will make you the least among the nations, despised by all people!

Every tree of the field will know that I am the Lord. I bring low the high tree, lift high the lowly tree, Wither up the green tree, and make the dry tree bloom. As I, the Lord, have spoken, so will I do!

Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will exalt you.
