So he said to all Israel, “Stand on one side, and my son Jonathan and I will stand on the other.” The people responded, “Do what you think best.”

The king’s servants answered him, “Whatever our lord the king chooses to do, we are your servants.”

Her husband Elkanah answered her: “Do what you think best; wait until you have weaned him. Only may the Lord fulfill his word!” And so she remained at home and nursed her son until she had weaned him. Hannah Presents Samuel to the Lord.

If the blame for this resides in me or my son Jonathan, Lord, God of Israel, respond with Urim; but if this guilt is in your people Israel, respond with Thummim.” Jonathan and Saul were designated, and the people went free.

His armor-bearer replied, “Do whatever you think best; I am with you in whatever you decide.”
