Manya manproclaimshis ownloyalty,But whocan finda trustworthyman?
Ifyou say,"See,we did not knowthis,"Does He not consider[it] who weighsthe hearts?And does He not know[it] who keepsyour soul?And will He not renderto manaccording to his work?
There is a kindwho is purein his own eyes,Yet is not washedfrom his filthiness.
"I, the LORD,searchthe heart,I testthe mind,Even to giveto eachmanaccording to his ways,According to the resultsof his deeds.
"'TEKEL--you have been weighedon the scalesand founddeficient.
And He saidto them, "You are thosewho justifyyourselvesin the sightof men,but Godknowsyour hearts;for that which is highly esteemedamongmenis detestablein the sightof God.
For ifanyonethinkshe is somethingwhen he is nothing,he deceiveshimself.
But proveyourselves doersof the word,and not merelyhearerswho deludethemselves.
And I will killher childrenwith pestilence,and allthe churcheswill knowthat I amHe who searchesthe mindsand hearts;and I will giveto each oneof you accordingto your deeds.
But the LORDsaidto Samuel,"Do not lookat his appearanceor at the heightof his stature,becauseI have rejectedhim; for God[sees] not as mansees,for manlooksat the outwardappearance,but the LORDlooksat the heart."
