Peterhad followedHim at a distance,rightinto the courtyardof the high priest;and he was sittingwith the officersand warminghimself at the fire.
The servant-girlsawhim, and beganonce moreto sayto the bystanders,"Thisis [one] of them!"
But againhe deniedit. And aftera little whilethe bystanderswere againsayingto Peter,"Surelyyou are [one] of them, for you are a Galileantoo."
Immediatelya roostercroweda second time.And PeterrememberedhowJesushad madethe remarkto him, "Beforea roostercrowstwice,you will denyMe three times."And he began to weep.
