As it is writtenin Isaiahthe prophet:"BEHOLD,I SENDMY MESSENGERAHEADOF YOU, WHOWILL PREPAREYOUR WAY;
ThenI said,"Behold,I come;In the scrollof the bookit is writtenof me.
"Behold,I am going to sendMy messenger,and he will clearthe waybeforeMe. And the Lord,whomyou seek,will suddenlycometo His temple;and the messengerof the covenant,in whomyou delight,behold,He is coming,"saysthe LORDof hosts.
"Thisis the one aboutwhomit is written,BEHOLD,I SENDMY MESSENGERAHEAD OF YOU, WHOWILL PREPAREYOUR WAYBEFOREYOU.'
They saidto him, "In Bethlehemof Judea;for thisis whathas been writtenby the prophet:
"The Sonof Man[is to] go,justas it is writtenof Him; but woeto that manby whomthe Sonof Manis betrayed!It would have beengoodfor that manifhe had not been born."
ThenJesussaidto them, "You will allfall awaybecauseof Me thisnight,for it is written,I WILL STRIKE DOWNTHE SHEPHERD,AND THE SHEEPOF THE FLOCKSHALL BE SCATTERED.'
As He spokeby the mouthof His holyprophetsfrom of old--
"And you, child,will be calledthe prophetof the Most High;For you will goon BEFORETHE LORDTO PREPAREHIS WAYS;
ThenHe tookthe twelveasideand saidto them, "Behold,we are goingup to Jerusalem,and all thingswhich are writtenthroughthe prophetsabout the Sonof Manwill be accomplished.
