and by somethat Elijahhad appeared,and by othersthat oneof the prophetsof oldhad risen again.
And they said,"Some[say] Johnthe Baptist;and others,Elijah;but still others,Jeremiah,oroneof the prophets."
And His disciplesaskedHim, "Whythendo the scribessaythat Elijahmustcomefirst?"
But otherswere saying,"He is Elijah."And otherswere saying,"[He is] a prophet,likeoneof the prophets[of old]."
They toldHim, saying,"Johnthe Baptist;and others[say] Elijah;but others,oneof the prophets."
They answeredand said,"Johnthe Baptist,and others[say] Elijah;but others,that oneof the prophetsof oldhas risen again."
They askedhim, "Whatthen?Are you Elijah?"And he said,"I amnot." "Are you the Prophet?"And he answered,"No."
