And He saidto them, "But whodo you saythat I am?"And Peteransweredand said,"The Christof God."
"Whatdo you thinkaboutthe Christ,whosesonis He?" They saidto Him, "[The son] of David."
But Jesuskept silent.And the high priestsaidto Him, "I adjureYou by the livingGod,that You tellus whetherYou are the Christ,the Sonof God."
"Ifyou greetonlyyour brothers,whatmoreare you doing[than others]? Do not eventhe Gentilesdothe same?
But He kept silentand did not answer.Againthe high priestwas questioningHim, and sayingto Him, "Are You the Christ,the Sonof the Blessed[One]?"
And He [continued] by questioningthem, "But whodo you saythat I am?"Peteransweredand saidto Him, "You are the Christ."
"IfYou are the Christ,tell us." But He saidto them, "IfI tellyou, you will not believe;
They answeredand said,"Johnthe Baptist,and others[say] Elijah;but others,that oneof the prophetsof oldhas risen again."
He foundfirsthis ownbrotherSimonand saidto him, "We have foundthe Messiah"(whichtranslatedmeansChrist).
NathanaelansweredHim, "Rabbi,You are the Sonof God;You are the Kingof Israel."
She saidto Him, "Yes,Lord;I have believedthat You are the Christ,the Sonof God,[even] He who comesinto the world."
but thesehave been writtensothat you may believethat Jesusis the Christ,the Sonof God;and that believingyou may havelifein His name.
"Come,seea manwhotoldme all the thingsthat I [have] done;thisis not the Christ,is it?"
and they were sayingto the woman,"It is no longerbecauseof what you saidthat we believe,for we have heardfor ourselvesand knowthat this Oneis indeedthe Saviorof the world."
Otherswere saying,"Thisis the Christ."Still otherswere saying,"Surelythe Christis not going to comefrom Galilee,is He?
explainingand giving evidencethat the Christhadto sufferand rise againfrom the dead,and [saying], "ThisJesuswhomI am proclaimingto you is the Christ."
As they wentalongthe roadthey cameto somewater;and the eunuchsaid,"Look!Water!Whatpreventsme from being baptized?"
But Saulkept increasing in strengthand confoundingthe Jewswho livedat Damascusby provingthat this[Jesus] is the Christ.
Whoeverbelievesthat Jesusis the Christis bornof God,and whoeverlovesthe Fatherlovesthe [child] bornof Him.
