Nowin thosedaysJohnthe Baptistcame,preachingin the wildernessof Judea,saying,
Johnansweredand saidto them all,"As for me, I baptizeyou with water;but One is comingwho is mightierthan I, and I amnot fitto untiethe thongof His sandals;He will baptizeyou with the HolySpiritand fire.
"Thisis the one aboutwhomit is written,BEHOLD,I SENDMY MESSENGERAHEADOF YOU, WHOWILL PREPAREYOUR WAYBEFOREYOU.'
When allthe peopleand the tax collectorsheard[this], they acknowledgedGod'sjustice,having been baptizedwith the baptismof John.
and saidto them, "Whoeverreceivesthischildin My namereceivesMe, and whoeverreceivesMe receivesHim who sentMe; for the onewho is leastamongallof you, thisis the one who is great."
