The Jewssaidto Him, "Nowwe knowthat You havea demon.Abrahamdied,and the prophets[also]; and You say,'IfanyonekeepsMy word,he will nevertasteof death.'
"For Johncameneithereatingnordrinking,and they say,He hasa demon!'
Thisis the testimonyof John,whenthe Jewssentto him priestsand Levitesfrom Jerusalemto askhim, "Whoare you?"
Jesusansweredand saidto him, "IfanyonelovesMe, he will keepMy word;and My Fatherwill lovehim, and We will cometo him and makeOur abodewith him.
"Rememberthe wordthat I saidto you, 'A slaveis not greaterthan his master.'Ifthey persecutedMe, they will alsopersecuteyou; ifthey keptMy word,they will keepyoursalso.
"I have manifestedYour nameto the menwhomYou gaveMe out of the world;they were Yoursand You gavethem to Me, and they have keptYour word.
The crowdanswered,"You havea demon!Whoseeksto killYou?"
Sothe Jewswere saying,"SurelyHe will not killHimself,will He, sinceHe says,WhereI am going,you cannotcome'?"
The Jewsansweredand saidto Him, "Do we not sayrightlythat You are a Samaritanand havea demon?"
"Truly,truly,I sayto you, ifanyonekeepsMy wordhe will neverseedeath."
and you have not come to knowHim, but I knowHim; and ifI saythat I do not knowHim, I will be a liarlikeyou, but I do knowHim and keepHis word.
Soa second timethey calledthe manwhohad beenblind,and saidto him, "Givegloryto God;we knowthat thismanis a sinner."
Allthesediedin faith,withoutreceivingthe promises,but having seenthem and having welcomedthem from a distance,and having confessedthat they were strangersand exileson the earth.
But we do seeHim who was madefor a little whilelowerthanthe angels,[namely], Jesus,becauseof the sufferingof deathcrownedwith gloryand honor,sothat by the graceof GodHe might tastedeathfor everyone.
