At that timeJesussaid,"I praiseYou, Father,Lordof heavenand earth,that You have hiddenthese thingsfrom [the] wiseand intelligentand have revealedthem to infants.
Pilatesummonedthe chief priestsand the rulersand the people,
Neverthelessmanyevenof the rulersbelievedin Him, but becauseof the Phariseesthey were not confessing[Him], for fearthat they would be put out of the synagogue;
Nowthere was a manof the Pharisees,namedNicodemus,a rulerof the Jews;
"Look,He is speakingpublicly,and they are sayingnothingto Him. The rulersdo not reallyknowthat thisis the Christ,do they?
"But thiscrowdwhich does not knowthe Lawis accursed."
Nicodemus(he who cameto Him before,beingoneof them) saidto them,
The wordof Godkept on spreading;and the numberof the disciplescontinued to increasegreatlyin Jerusalem,and a greatmanyof the priestswere becoming obedientto the faith.
Whereis the wise man?Whereis the scribe?Whereis the debaterof thisage?Has not Godmade foolishthe wisdomof the world?
[the wisdom] whichnoneof the rulersof thisagehas understood;for ifthey had understoodit they would not have crucifiedthe Lordof glory;
