There was muchgrumblingamongthe crowdsconcerningHim; somewere saying,"He is a good man";otherswere saying,"No,on the contrary,He leadsthe peopleastray."
"It is enoughfor the disciplethat he becomelikehis teacher,and the slavelikehis master.Ifthey have calledthe head of the houseBeelzebul,how muchmore[will they malign] the members of his household!
When they soughtto seizeHim, they fearedthe people,becausethey consideredHim to be a prophet.
and said,"Sir,we rememberthat when He was stillalivethat deceiversaid,AfterthreedaysI [am to] rise again.'
And Jesussaidto him, "Whydo you callMe good?No oneis goodexceptGodalone.
Nowwhen the centurionsawwhat had happened,he [began] praisingGod,saying,"Certainlythismanwas innocent."
And a mannamedJoseph,who was a member of the Council,a goodand righteousman
"The goodmanout of the goodtreasureof his heartbringsforthwhat is good;and the evil[man] out of the evil[treasure] brings forthwhat is evil;for his mouthspeaksfrom that which fillshis heart.
Feargrippedthem all,and they [began] glorifyingGod,saying,"A greatprophethas arisenamongus!" and, "Godhas visitedHis people!"
Thereforewhen the peoplesawthe signwhichHe had performed,they said,"Thisis trulythe Prophetwho is to comeinto the world."
The Phariseesheardthe crowdmutteringthese thingsaboutHim, and the chief priestsand the Phariseessentofficersto seizeHim.
The Phariseesthenansweredthem, "You have not alsobeen led astray,have you?
They answeredhim, "You are not alsofrom Galilee,are you? Search,and seethat noprophetarisesout of Galilee."
Thereforesomeof the Phariseeswere saying,"Thismanis not from God,becauseHe does not keepthe Sabbath."But otherswere saying,"Howcana manwho is a sinnerperformsuchsigns?"And there was a divisionamongthem.
for he was a goodman,and fullof the HolySpiritand of faith.And considerablenumberswere broughtto the Lord.
For onewill hardlydiefor a righteous man;thoughperhapsfor the good mansomeonewould dareevento die.
Doall thingswithoutgrumblingordisputing;
