For thisreasonthe Jewswere persecutingJesus,becauseHe was doingthese thingson the Sabbath.
ThenHe saidto the man,"Stretchout your hand!"He stretchedit out, and it was restoredto normal,likethe other.
The Phariseeswentout and immediately[began] conspiringwith the HerodiansagainstHim, [as] [to] howthey might destroyHim.
But they themselveswere filledwith rage,and discussedtogetherwhatthey might doto Jesus.
Thisis the testimonyof John,whenthe Jewssentto him priestsand Levitesfrom Jerusalemto askhim, "Whoare you?"
Thereforethey were seekingagainto seizeHim, and He eludedtheir grasp.
"Rememberthe wordthat I saidto you, 'A slaveis not greaterthan his master.'Ifthey persecutedMe, they will alsopersecuteyou; ifthey keptMy word,they will keepyoursalso.
Sothe Jewswere sayingto the man who was cured,"It is the Sabbath,and it is not permissiblefor you to carryyour pallet."
But the man who was healeddid not knowwhoit was, for Jesushad slipped awaywhile there was a crowdin [that] place.
The manwent away,and toldthe Jewsthat it was Jesuswho had madehim well.
But He answeredthem, "My Fatheris workinguntilnow,and I Myselfam working."
For thisreasonthereforethe Jewswere seekingall the moreto killHim, becauseHe not onlywas breakingthe Sabbath,but alsowas callingGodHis ownFather,makingHimselfequalwith God.
Jesusansweredthem, "I didonedeed,and you allmarvel.
Sosomeof the people of Jerusalemwere saying,"Is thisnot the man whomthey are seekingto kill?
