But the one whose genealogy is not tracedfrom them collected a tenthfrom Abrahamand blessedthe one who hadthe promises.
"Pleasesaythat you are my sistersothat it may gowellwith me becauseof you, and that I may liveon accountof you."
And I will makeyou a greatnation,And I will blessyou, And makeyour namegreat;And so you shall be a blessing;
"It is you who are the sonsof the prophetsand of the covenantwhichGodmadewith your fathers,sayingto Abraham,AND IN YOUR SEEDALLTHE FAMILIESOF THE EARTHSHALL BE BLESSED.'
For the promiseto Abrahamorto his descendantsthat he would be heirof the worldwas not throughthe Law,but throughthe righteousnessof faith.
whoare Israelites,to whombelongs the adoption as sons,and the gloryand the covenantsand the giving of the Lawand the [temple] serviceand the promises,
Nowthe promiseswere spokento Abrahamand to his seed.He does not say,"And to seeds,"as [referring] to many,but [rather] to one,"And to your seed,"that is, Christ.
Allthesediedin faith,withoutreceivingthe promises,but having seenthem and having welcomedthem from a distance,and having confessedthat they were strangersand exileson the earth.
By faithAbraham,when he was tested,offeredup Isaac,and he who had receivedthe promiseswas offeringup his only begotten[son];
For thisMelchizedek,kingof Salem,priestof the Most HighGod,who metAbrahamas he was returningfrom the slaughterof the kingsand blessedhim,
But withoutanydisputethe lesseris blessedby the greater.
