Godplacedthem in the expanseof the heavensto givelighton the earth,
I setMy bowin the cloud,and it shall be for a signof a covenantbetweenMe and the earth.
"Have you everin your lifecommandedthe morning,[And] caused the dawnto knowits place,
O LORD,our Lord,Howmajesticis Your namein allthe earth,Whohave displayedYour splendorabovethe heavens!
WhenI considerYour heavens,the workof Your fingers,The moonand the stars,whichYou have ordained;
"Thussaysthe LORD,'Ifyou can breakMy covenantfor the dayand My covenantfor the night,so that dayand nightwill not be at their appointedtime,
"Thussaysthe LORD,'IfMy covenant[for] dayand night[stand] not, [and] the fixedpatternsof heavenand earthI have not established,
"For sothe Lordhas commandedus, 'I HAVE PLACEDYOU AS A LIGHTFOR THE GENTILES,THAT YOU MAY BRINGSALVATIONTO THE ENDOF THE EARTH.'"
