Ifthe serpentbitesbefore being charmed,thereis noprofitfor the charmer.
Your tonguedevisesdestruction,Like a sharprazor,O workerof deceit.
O God,shattertheir teethin their mouth;Breakout the fangsof the younglions,O LORD.
Whohave sharpenedtheir tonguelike a sword.They aimedbitterspeech[as] their arrow,
Deathand lifeare in the powerof the tongue,And those who loveit will eatits fruit.
Ifthe axeis dulland he does not sharpen[its] edge,then he must exertmore strength.Wisdomhas the advantageof givingsuccess.
"For behold,I am sendingserpentsagainst you, Adders,for whichthereis nocharm,And they will biteyou," declaresthe LORD.
And the tongueis a fire,the [very] worldof iniquity;the tongueis setamongour membersas that which defilesthe entirebody,and setson firethe courseof [our] life,and is set on fireby hell.
But no onecantamethe tongue;[it is] a restlessevil[and] fullof deadlypoison.
