But whenthe fourteenthnightcame,as we were being driven aboutin the AdriaticSea, aboutmidnightthe sailors[began] to surmisethat they were approachingsomeland.
And Hiramsenthis servantswith the fleet,sailorswho knewthe sea,alongwith the servantsof Solomon.
So the captainapproachedhim and said,"Howis it that you are sleeping?Getup, callon your god.Perhaps[your] godwill be concernedabout us so that we will not perish."
"But we mustrun agroundon a certainisland."
They tooksoundingsand found[it to be] twentyfathoms;and a littlefartheron they tookanothersoundingand found[it to be] fifteenfathoms.
But as the sailorswere tryingto escapefrom the shipand had let downthe [ship's] boatinto the sea,on the pretenseof intendingto layout anchorsfrom the bow,
for in onehoursuch greatwealthhas been laid waste!'And everyshipmasterand everypassengerand sailor,and as manyas make their livingby the sea,stoodat a distance,
