especiallybecause you are an expertin allcustomsand questionsamong[the] Jews;thereforeI begyou to listento me patiently.
"Then I tookthe deedsof purchase,both the sealed[copy containing] the termsand conditionsand the open[copy];
and they have been toldaboutyou, that you are teachingallthe Jewswho are amongthe Gentilesto forsakeMoses,tellingthem not to circumcisetheir childrennorto walkaccording to the customs.
When the governorhad noddedfor him to speak,Paulresponded:"Knowingthat for manyyearsyou have beena judgeto thisnation,I cheerfullymake my defense,
"But, that I may not wearyyou any further,I begyou to grantus, by your kindness,a briefhearing.
"Yet I havenothingdefiniteabouthim to writeto my lord.ThereforeI have brought him beforeyou [all] and especiallybeforeyou, KingAgrippa,sothat after the investigationhas taken place,I may havesomethingto write.
"In regardto all the thingsof whichI am accusedby the Jews,I considermyselffortunate,KingAgrippa,that I am aboutto make my defensebeforeyou today;
"For the kingknowsaboutthesematters, and I speakto him alsowith confidence,sinceI am persuadedthat noneof these thingsescape his notice;for thishas not beendonein a corner.
[the promise] to whichour twelve tribeshopeto attain,as they earnestlyserve[God] nightand day.And for thishope,O King,I am being accusedby Jews.
AfterthreedaysPaul called togetherthosewho were the leading menof the Jews,and when they came together,he [began] sayingto them, "Brethren,though I had donenothingagainstour peopleorthe customsof our fathers,yet I was deliveredas a prisonerfrom Jerusaleminto the handsof the Romans.
for we have heardhim saythat thisNazarene,Jesus,will destroythisplaceand alterthe customswhichMoseshanded downto us."
IfI have[the gift of] prophecy,and knowallmysteriesand allknowledge;and ifI haveallfaith,soas to removemountains,but do not havelove,I amnothing.
"Now it shall comeabout when he sitson the throneof his kingdom,he shall writefor himself a copyof thislawon a scrollin the presenceof the Leviticalpriests.
