After Paul arrived,the Jewswho had come downfrom Jerusalemstood aroundhim, bringingmanyand seriouschargesagainsthim whichthey couldnot prove,
sothat a searchmay be madein the recordbooksof your fathers.And you will discoverin the recordbooksand learnthat that cityis a rebelliouscityand damagingto kingsand provinces,and that they have incitedrevoltwithinit in pastdays;thereforethat citywas laidwaste.
Then Hamansaidto KingAhasuerus,"Thereis a certainpeoplescatteredand dispersedamongthe peoplesin allthe provincesof your kingdom;their lawsare differentfrom [those] of all[other] peopleand they do not observethe king'slaws,so it is not in the king'sinterestto let them remain.
Do not deliverme over to the desireof my adversaries,For false witnesseshave risenagainst me, And such as breatheout violence.
Maliciouswitnessesriseup; They askme of things that I do not know.
Thensome Phariseesand scribescameto Jesusfrom Jerusalemand said,
And the chief priestsand the scribeswere standingthere, accusingHim vehemently.
And they beganto accuseHim, saying,"We foundthis manmisleadingour nationand forbiddingto paytaxesto Caesar,and sayingthat He Himselfis Christ,a King."
cryingout, "Menof Israel,come to our aid!Thisis the manwho preachesto all meneverywhereagainstour peopleand the Lawand thisplace;and besideshe has evenbroughtGreeksinto the templeand has defiledthisholyplace."
"Norcanthey proveto you [the charges] of whichthey nowaccuseme.
Festussaid,"KingAgrippa,and allyou gentlemenhere presentwith us, you seethis manaboutwhomallthe peopleof the Jewsappealedto me, bothat Jerusalemand here,loudly declaringthat he oughtnot to liveany longer.
hinderingus from speakingto the Gentilessothat they may be saved;with the result that they alwaysfill up the measureof their sins.But wrathhas comeupon them to the utmost.
