But be that as it may, I did not burdenyou myself;nevertheless,craftyfellow that I am, I tookyou in by deceit.
For our proud confidenceis this:the testimonyof our conscience,that in holinessand godlysincerity,not in fleshlywisdombut in the graceof God,we have conductedourselves in the world,and especiallytowardyou.
For you tolerateit ifanyoneenslavesyou, anyonedevoursyou, anyonetakesadvantage of you, anyoneexaltshimself, anyonehitsyou in the face.
For in whatrespect were you treated as inferiorto the restof the churches,exceptthat I myselfdid not become a burdento you? Forgiveme thiswrong!
but we have renouncedthe things hiddenbecause of shame,not walkingin craftinessoradulteratingthe wordof God,but by the manifestationof truthcommendingourselvesto everyman'sconsciencein the sightof God.
by gloryand dishonor,by evil reportand good report;[regarded] as deceiversand yet true;
Make roomfor us [in your hearts]; we wrongednoone,we corruptedno one,we took advantageof no one.
For our exhortationdoes not [come] from errororimpurityorby wayof deceit;
For we nevercamewith flatteringspeech,as you know,norwith a pretextfor greed--Godis witness--
ifyou have tastedthe kindnessof the Lord.
