When Jeroboamthe sonof Nebatheard[of it] (for he was in Egyptwherehe had fledfrom the presenceof KingSolomon),Jeroboamreturnedfrom Egypt.
Then Jeroboamthe sonof Nebat,an Ephraimiteof Zeredah,Solomon'sservant,whose mother'snamewas Zeruah,a widow,also rebelledagainst the king.
Now the manJeroboamwas a valiantwarrior,and when Solomonsawthat the youngmanwas industrious,he appointedhim over allthe forcedlaborof the houseof Joseph.
Solomonsoughttherefore to putJeroboamto death;but Jeroboamaroseand fledto Egyptto Shishakkingof Egypt,and he was in Egyptuntilthe deathof Solomon.
Now when Jeroboamthe sonof Nebatheard[of it], he was livingin Egypt(for he was yetin Egypt,wherehe had fledfrom the presenceof KingSolomon).
So they sentand summonedhim. When Jeroboamand allIsraelcame,they spoketo Rehoboam,saying,
Now the restof the actsof Solomon,from firstto last,are they not writtenin the recordsof Nathanthe prophet,and in the prophecyof Ahijahthe Shilonite,and in the visionsof Iddothe seerconcerningJeroboamthe sonof Nebat?
