When Eliheardthe noiseof the outcry,he said,"What[does] the noiseof thiscommotion[mean]?" Then the mancamehurriedlyand toldEli.
"Standby the roadand keepwatch,O inhabitantof Aroer;Askhim who fleesand her who escapes[And] say,'Whathas happened?'
When he came,behold,Eliwas sittingon [his] seatby the roadeagerly watching,becausehis heartwas tremblingfor the arkof God.So the mancameto tell[it] in the city,and allthe citycriedout.
Now Eliwas ninety-eightyearsold,and his eyeswere setso that he couldnot see.
