Then he saidto allIsrael,"You shall be on onesideand I and Jonathanmy sonwill be on the otherside."And the peoplesaidto Saul,"Dowhatseems goodto you."
Then the king'sservantssaidto the king,"Behold,your servants[are ready to do] whatevermy lordthe kingchooses."
Elkanahher husbandsaidto her, "Dowhatseems bestto you. Remainuntilyou have weanedhim; onlymay the LORDconfirmHis word."So the womanremainedand nursedher sonuntilshe weanedhim.
Then Saulsaid,"Let us godownafterthe Philistinesby nightand takespoilamong them untilthe morninglight,and let us not leavea manof them." And they said,"Dowhateverseems goodto you." So the priestsaid,"Let us drawnearto Godhere."
"For as the LORDlives,who deliversIsrael,thoughit is in Jonathanmy son,he shall surelydie."But not oneof allthe peopleansweredhim.
Therefore, Saulsaidto the LORD,the Godof Israel,"Givea perfect[lot]." And Jonathanand Saulwere taken,but the peopleescaped.
His armorbearersaidto him, "Doallthat is in your heart;turnyourself, [and] hereI am with you according to your desire."
