Reubenansweredthem, saying,"Did I not tellyou, 'Do not sinagainst the boy;and you would not listen?Nowcomesthe reckoningfor his blood."

"The LORDwill returnhis bloodon his own head,becausehe fellupon twomenmorerighteousand betterthanhe and killedthem with the sword,while my fatherDaviddid not know[it]: Abnerthe sonof Ner,commanderof the armyof Israel,and Amasathe sonof Jether,commanderof the armyof Judah.
The kingalso saidto Shimei,"You knowallthe evilwhichyou acknowledgein your heart,whichyou didto my fatherDavid;therefore the LORDshall returnyour evilon your own head.
then hearin heavenand actand judgeYour servants,condemningthe wickedby bringinghis wayon his own headand justifyingthe righteousby givinghim according to his righteousness.
"Therefore, the leprosyof Naamanshall clingto you and to your descendantsforever."So he wentout from his presencea leper[as white] as snow.
"And nowit has pleasedYou to blessthe houseof Your servant,that it may continueforeverbeforeYou; for You, O LORD,have blessed,and it is blessedforever."
Every morningI will destroyallthe wickedof the land,So as to cutofffrom the cityof the LORDallthose who doiniquity.
"Ifyour sonswill keepMy covenantAnd My testimonywhichI will teachthem, Their sonsalsoshall situpon your throneforever."
He askedlifeof You, You gaveit to him, Lengthof daysforeverand ever.
"So I will establishhis descendantsforeverAnd his throneas the daysof heaven.
Takeawaythe wickedbeforethe king,And his thronewill be establishedin righteousness.
Therefore,thussaysthe LordGOD,"As I live,surelyMy oathwhichhe despisedand My covenantwhichhe broke,I will inflicton his head.
"But ifyou will not doso,behold,you have sinnedagainst the LORD,and be sureyour sinwill findyou out.
And allthe peoplesaid,"His bloodshall be on us and on our children!"
"Gloryto Godin the highest,And on earthpeaceamongmenwith whom He is pleased."
But when they resistedand blasphemed,he shookout his garmentsand saidto them, "Your blood[be] on your own heads!I am clean.From nowon I will goto the Gentiles."
so that the violencedone to the seventysonsof Jerubbaalmight come,and their bloodmight be laidon Abimelechtheir brother,whokilledthem, and on the menof Shechem,whostrengthenedhis handsto killhis brothers.
