I [did] not at all[mean] with the immoral peopleof thisworld,orwith the covetousand swindlers,orwith idolaters,for thenyou would haveto goout of the world.
"The Phariseestoodand was prayingthisto himself:'God,I thankYou that I amnot likeother people:swindlers,unjust,adulterers,orevenlikethistax collector.
"Ifyou were of the world,the worldwould loveits own;but becauseyou are not of the world,but I choseyou out of the world,becauseof thisthe worldhatesyou.
"I have manifestedYour nameto the menwhomYou gaveMe out of the world;they were Yoursand You gavethem to Me, and they have keptYour word.
"I askon their behalf;I do not askon behalfof the world,but of those whomYou have givenMe; for they are Yours;
And He was sayingto them, "You are from below,I amfrom above;you are of thisworld,I amnot of thisworld.
Whereis the wise man?Whereis the scribe?Whereis the debaterof thisage?Has not Godmade foolishthe wisdomof the world?
Ifoneof the unbelieversinvitesyou and you wantto go,eatanythingthat is set beforeyou withoutasking questionsfor conscience'sake.
But actually,I wroteto you not to associatewith anyso-calledbrotherifhe is an immoral person,orcovetous,oran idolater,ora reviler,ora drunkard,ora swindler--not evento eatwith such a one.
I wroteyou in my letternot to associatewith immoral people;
in whosecasethe godof thisworldhas blindedthe mindsof the unbelievingsothat they might not seethe lightof the gospelof the gloryof Christ,whois the imageof God.
in whichyou formerlywalkedaccordingto the courseof thisworld,accordingto the princeof the powerof the air,of the spiritthat is nowworkingin the sonsof disobedience.
sothat you will proveyourselves to be blamelessand innocent,childrenof Godabove reproachin the midstof a crookedand perversegeneration,amongwhomyou appearas lightsin the world,
They are from the world;thereforethey speak[as] from the world,and the worldlistensto them.
Beloved,let us loveone another,for loveis from God;and everyonewho lovesis bornof Godand knowsGod.
We knowthat we are of God,and that the wholeworldliesin [the power of] the evil one.
And the greatdragonwas throwndown, the serpentof oldwho is calledthe deviland Satan,who deceivesthe wholeworld;he was throwndown to the earth,and his angelswere throwndown with him.
