For I have eaten ashes like bread, and have mixed my drink with weeping,
For my sighing comes before I eat, and my groanings are poured out like the waters.
Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why do you moan within me? Hope in God; for I still praise Him, the salvation of my face, and my God.
My tears have been my food day and night, while they say to me all the day, Where is your God?
They also gave Me gall for my food; and in My thirst they gave Me vinegar to drink.
You feed them with the bread of tears; and give them tears to drink in great measure.
He feeds on ashes; a deceived heart has turned him aside, so that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?
Do not declare it in Gath; weep not at all; in the house of Leaphrah roll in the dust.
They shall lick the dust like a snake; they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth. They shall dread Jehovah our God, and shall fear because of You.
