Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.

Also I shook my lap and said, So let God shake out every man from his house, and from his labor, who does not keep this promise, even may he be shaken out this way and emptied. And all the congregation said, amen, and praised Jehovah. And the people did according to this promise.

For I delivered the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to help him.

They cried, but there was none to save; even to Jehovah, but He did not answer them.

And crying out with a loud voice, they stopped their ears and ran on him with one accord.

But whoever has this world's goods and sees his brother having need, and shuts up his bowels from him, how does the love of God dwell in him?
