A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her who bore him.

The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son is the sorrow of his mother.

A foolish son is ruin to his father, and the quarreling of a wife is a never-ending dripping.

A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish man despises his mother.

He who fathers a fool does it to his sorrow; the father of a fool has no joy.

The rod and rebuke give wisdom, but a boy sent off causes shame to his mother.

And it was told to Joab, Behold, the king weeps and mourns for Absalom.

Your father and your mother shall be glad, and she who bore you shall rejoice.
