God did not thrust out His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture said in Elijah, how he pleaded with God against Israel, saying,

For though walking about in flesh, we do not war according to flesh.

I have been crucified with Christ, and I live; yet no longer I, but Christ lives in me. And that life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith toward the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself on my behalf.

For I am pressed together by the two: having a desire to depart and to be with Christ, which is far better.

But to remain in the flesh is more needful for you.

For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh,

in order no longer to live in the lusts of men, but in the will of God the remaining time in the flesh.
