(For it was necessary for him to release one to them at the feast.)

Now at that feast the governor was accustomed to release to the people a prisoner, whomever they desired.

Therefore I will chastise Him and release Him.

And they all cried out at once, saying, Away with this One! And release to us Barabbas

And at that feast he released to them one prisoner, whomever they desired.

But you have a custom that I should release one to you at the Passover. Then do you desire that I release to you the king of the Jews?
