The crowd answered Him, We have heard out of the Law that Christ lives forever. How do you say, The Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?

(that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which He spoke signifying what death He was about to die).

And bearing His cross, He went out to a place called, The Place of a Skull (which is called in the Hebrew, Golgotha)

But even as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

No one can come to Me unless the Father who has sent Me draw him, and I will raise him up at the last day.

Then Jesus said to them, When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you shall know that I AM, and that I do nothing of Myself, but as My Father has taught Me, I speak these things.

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, being made a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone having been hanged on a tree");

who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor, that He by the grace of God should taste death for all.

He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that dying to sins, we might live to righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed.

For Christ also once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, indeed being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit;

And He is the propitiation concerning our sins, and not concerning ours only, but also concerning the sins of all the world.

And they sang a new song, saying, You are worthy to take the book and to open its seals, for You were slain and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every kindred and tongue and people and nation.
