And there was a certain sick one, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
And it happened after these things, that one told Joseph, Behold, your father is sick. And he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.
And leaving them, He went out of the city to Bethany, and spent the night there.
And when they drew near to Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, He sent out two of His disciples.
He said these things; and after that He said to them, Our friend Lazarus sleeps. But I go so that I may awaken him out of sleep.
And Bethany was near Jerusalem, fifteen stadia away.
And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary in order to comfort them concerning their brother.
Then his sisters sent to Him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.
Then the crowd witnessed, those who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead.
Then a great crowd of the Jews learned that He was there. And they did not come for Jesus' sake only, but also that they might see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.
And it happened in those days, becoming sick, she died. And washing her, they laid her in an upper room.
