And they asked him, What then? Are you Elijah? And he says, I am not. Are you that prophet? And he answered, No.
Behold, I am sending you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of Jehovah.
And if you will receive it, this is Elijah who is to come.
And they said, Some say, John the Baptist; some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
And the crowd said, This is Jesus the prophet, from Nazareth of Galilee.
And he shall go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
Then they said to him, Who are you so that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say of yourself?
And they asked him and said, Why then do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor that Prophet?
Then seeing the miracle that Jesus did, those men said, This is truly the Prophet, the One coming into the world.
Then when they heard the Word, many of the people said, Truly this is the Prophet.
